Ooohhh, I didn't see that as a little destroyer, I thought it was Ru's right...um...appendage. Should have known, being Kongo and all.

Wow..... That was fast, I thought of translating these later when I saw these 3 posts but when I got back, they are already translated. Well, mostly.
Still, why did Chi-class attack Kitakami even though it was Ashigara who attacked Ru-class? Poor Kitakami.

    Is that a "4" or a "9"?

Sorry. Probably 39 (updated the trans).
    What is Akagi's upgrade requirement

    Fast translation thing ^^;
If you noticed any wrong translation, please help fix it :)

Chi-class is probably scared to go against the big hitters

Akagi upgrades at Level 30, but I'm pretty sure that's 39 so you're good.

Kongou still doing what she does best. I swear to God if I didn't have Carriers with torpedo bombers to clear out destroyers...

Kongou is Shiba-admiral's highest level ship right now. So her being able to one hit quit a destroyer shouldn't be all that surprising.

He's talking about how Kongou (and pretty much all other BBs) have a tendency to go after the weak Destroyer class ships instead of, you know, the giant enemy BB or carrier that is threatening to one shot your weaker ships...

Less stupid AI, more stupid "everything is luck based" mechanics.

I understand that it's all perhaps for the sake of balancing (if you get to choose your attack targets, arguably it'd get a bit too easy). But it can still REALLY TICK YOU OFF when your battleships decide to turn their massive guns against the enemy destroyer/light-cruisers who BARELY DO ANYTHING TO THEM instead of the enemy battleships THAT ARE LEGITIMATE THREATS.

Lets hope the Vita version is better.
Understandably the Free to Play scheme want player to play as long as possible and frustrate you enough to make you buy resources.

Generally speaking I observe that any ship (hostile or friendly) has a strong tendency to aim towards the rear end of the battle lineup (i.e. ships nearer to the bottom of the lineup list), and more often than not it's lighter ships in those slots in enemy formations.
..........so yes, Kongou electing to chew on a DD fish happens very often for me seeing as she has 46cms and fires before anyone else.

Yeah I can definitely see that being the trend as well.
Hence the real key is getting EVEN QUICKER attack(s) to take the wee ones first. God bless torpedo bombers, subs and Type A ko-hyoteki.

The devs pretty much said that the option is there, but they recommend against doing so. And indeed, buying resources are only for the very impatient admirals or the wasteful.

And I doubt the Vita version would change this RNG combat style. As said before, choosing your targets would make this game way too easy. Just pray that the RNG smiles upon you each sortie...

I think it somehow depends on formations and weapon range, as more often than not this stuff happens to me when it's doukousen, and in T ji-sen yuuri my Mutsu almost always aims for the enemy hime/demon.

Being able to choose your targets probably wouldn't be any different if we take "Accuracy" into account. I would imagine it's already balanced in a way. If we could choose our targets, becaues more defensive formations already have other ships block off attacks from the flagship anyway. So even if you were to focus your attacks on the flagship, you'd just end up scattering your bullets everywhere.

In fact, because of that "Shield" mechanic, I WANT to kill off the dinky destroyers first, my BBs and Heavy Cruisers can 1 shot them so the sooner those guys are off the enemy list, the sooner I can concentrate on the bigger threats.

PvP is one thing, but as far as regular AI maps go, the flagship is always the strongest one anyway but you probably wouldn't be able to hit it even with manual aim due to other ships playing bodyguard.

One hitting a destroyer is possible with any ships.mAlao Kongou along with Houshou are his highest leveled ships, both at 97

Historically, most of the battleships of the IJN really did do nothing but fire upon destroyers, and the only time battleships ever fired upon other battleships were during night battles.

It's generally just that the destroyers and faster cruisers can get into the battle faster, so they get within range of other ships faster, and hence become the first targets of both sides.

You don't get the sense of it from the way the game is played, though, since it LOOKS like everyone's just lining up, and any random target is as easy to reach as any other. Also, you only have 6 ships in a formation, rather than a fleet where 6 carriers are protected by 2 battleships, 8 cruisers, and 16 destroyers. When you see the battleship SOMETIMES randomly attack a flagship, you think it's just arbitrary nonsense when it doesn't, but that's just because the game is utterly lacking the sort of positional mechanics that would make more sense. (Historically, virtually every battleship and carrier was sunk by aircraft or subs, not direct ship-to-ship bombardment, and the battleships, much less carriers, were never out on the fore.)
