I think the original Kisaragi sank but, as in the games, she got replaced by another Kisaragi, the one we've been seeing here...
In real life, Kisaragi was the second Japanese ship sunk in WW2 (first among the ships existing in Kancolle) during the initial Wake Island invasion attempt (which the second half of the game's latest event was about, thus the timing of this). Incidentally, it was Uzuki who took her place in DesDiv30 (originally consisting of Mutsuki, Kisaragi, Yayoi, and Mochizuki) for the follow-up attack.
