In the anime, Ranko is their roommate (along with Anya). She substitutes for Sachiko... and does so wonderfully. On a side note: I find it very amusing how Syoko is completely oblivious to horror/violence. Would make sense why she's such close friends with Koume and Mayu (the horror idol and yandere idol). Still... Syoko and Koume make a really cute friendship, seeing how they freak out other idols but not each other, and they're in the same age group.
