It must be really hard for otaku in Japan. Where I live we form massive packs and may be seen as oddballs, but we're sizable groups of oddballs and that makes us valid members of society. An otaku will know everyone he sees in Gamezilla geekshop, whereas a jock will likely only know one or two people in Speedbumps sports bar.

But seriously Japan is all about conformity... which means at worse something like this happens. And from what I heard Otakus are a scattered bunch in reality (For the most part and most places) but gather online.
As far as Jocks and sports nuts... they don't really gather as well in some cases due to being more interested in the game and such.
But I'm reminded of the time where me and my buddies used to watch Yugi-oh each sunday morning

Who to say... I suspect whoever did this did so as a massive slight against LS and Otakus... the OOCness and flanderization occuring is proof as much.

Heh, that's pretty true. An otaku in japan is like being some game freak or nerd in america. People just don't like them because they are Mother F&%$ing assholes and think that just because you like show what you like and don't play too much sports YOU'RE A F%&$ING REJECT AND NOBODY WOULD GO NEAR U BECAUSE OF SOME STUPID RETARD THAT WAS AN OTAKU AND F&%$ED UP MAJORLY AND NOW THAT THERE IS A SHITLOAD OF STEROTYPES AND EVERYTHING! thank you Rolo, you beat me to it. the reality is no you wouldn't be the one comforting Konata because no she wouldn't actually be like that in real life. That and American "otaku" don't really know what it means to be an otaku. Your perception of it comes entirely from otaku anime characters....
still, there are ways of going about life without being a dick. you may not be gushing with love for real life otaku konata, but you don't have to be an ass either you can treat her like any other human being... we are all fucked up one way or another anyhow

Been there, done that. And most nerds don't have success in life, either, because life's unfair, destiny's a whore and play favorites, and once you're born different, you'll be isolated from the tribe until you die alone and depressed.

I don't really see Kagami as a bitch here. She's just telling the truth. Tsukasa and Miyuki are the ones being heartless whores, insulting Konata behind her back. At least Kagami tries to help out Konata (in a way) by telling her that she needs to grow up. That way people would stop looking down on her. Kagami doesn't use harsh words either. It's for Konata's own good, really.
I don't even think she's telling her to grow up, not really, because she wants her to conform. This is just how things in real life would go, since people bend to other's wishes beecause they are afraid to be excluded. Because they like other things, yeah. Go figure.
