This Phoenix would sink...eventually. To British torpedoes, in 1982. Argentinian cruiser General Belgrano, sunk by British nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror.

But that was after 30 years of Argentinia service, and after eight years of American Naval service. She survived Pearl Harbor without getting damaged and if I read the report correctly, never was hit during the war even though she was in action several times, including the Battle of Surigao Strait, having fired on Yamashiro in particular.

I question the effectiveness of a flamethrower in naval combat.

Well, according to post #1853944 , she made that flamethrower inspired by the army use of them in the landing at Leyte. And of course, she made it without permission.

Mutsu and Taihou would also question the use of fire weapons as well.
Can't be as dumb as half the things you see from certain ships. I don't have enough knowledge of stupid WW2 naval weapons to give any notable examples unfortunately, forgive me.

Right, setting a ship on fire, that houses explosives, volatile fuel and other combustibles on board, doesn't make sense.

That is, IF you can reach the target in the first place without getting plummeted with shells from far away. We are talking about naval battle here.

High Explosive shells could set a ship on fire.

Also there are the old legends of the Greek Fire against their enemies.

Also flame throwers are one of the favorites against monsters.

Long (slightly) White Hair + Red Eyes + Flame Thrower + Phoenix.

Yup, she's Mokou as a ship girl alright.

When said monsters are equipped with 18-inch guns? Good luck with that.

Also in age of sail, well greek fire would be best for defense and cause chaos in the enemy fleet. But again it will work in 21st century naval battles.

Do you want to try to tell her that?
Besides a lot of the Official Ship girls carry Swords, A flame thrower should be a bit better for naval combat than a sword.
