They would need to remake the whole show. For whatever reason, the anime left the manga source behind for good right in the middle of the show. Totally different stories from that point on. So, if they simply made a second season, it would have nothing to do with the later chapters.

Base on the movie, seems like the anime plot line will different but still carry similarities to the manga.

I expect nothing from the plot, but I'll watch it for the voiced and animated characters.

The spin-off is titled Salty Road and the mangaka for it is TALI. There doesn't appear to be any translations for it, whether fan or official, at this point in time.

I had added note of it in the Arpeggio wiki here when I had heard about it.
