It does look at first like she's kicking something, but given how the rest of it plays out, I think it's more that she's rapidly trying to slowdown after getting in front of the object. The object doesn't disappear or seemingly accelerate or change direction after the "kick", but it does seemingly completely disappear once she changes directions and heads toward the object head on.
If I was to guess what is being shown, it's intercepting a meteoroid, and then sending it back out into space.
