That animal has a tiger's tail, stripes, and a color motif of a white tiger, which seems to be pretty frequently depicted. So it is most likely a tiger, but its head proportion seems to be off to me.

Let's just attribute it to "artist doesn't know what real X looks like" and be done with it, no need to read too deep into a thing that doesn't have any depth.
