Can't help it, eh? It's nothing personal, just instinctive reaction.

Did they really censor Stroheim's salute in the original Jojo TV broadcast?

Here in Mexico, when a person takes a big charge in the government (like our national president, governors, or regional presidents, etc.), they make a oath where they raise their hand like a nazi salute.

I was covering once an event like that. When they were making that oath, I muttered to myself "Heil Hitler" and a colleague and friend of mine heard me and laughed.

Before the second world war, it wasn't uncommon for American students pledging allegiance to do the same salute. Kind of a shame it's so heavily associated with Nazis.

Everything der Führer touches becomes verboten. Including Charlie Chaplin's mustache.

Yup. Kinda funny when you consider even some of Polish divisions had swastikas in their insignia.

Poland ban Nazi Swastika, but still allow religious Swastika, because it is part of tradition, not like some British ban a series of handbag was made in India because Hindu's Swastika there. And irony, the oldest Swastika was found in Ukraine.

Didnt the Nazis flip the Swastika or something when they used it? Or has my memory totally gone?

Both directions are valid. People don't often care whether it's left-facing or right-facing, save in traditional contexts.

It was the "Roman salute" and was used throughout continental Europe in throughout the Edwardian and interwar periods, by the Weimar republic and Kingdom of Italy alike.

With the swastika, the Nazi use was also the first exposure most of the West had to the symbol, so that didn't help the overriding association. The fact that modern white supremacists keep using it makes "reclaiming" it hard.

Though traditional Indian/Asian "for luck" swastika are typically square rather than angled.

Coming throoough! This is how very long lines inside (as opposed to those which are in the open air) Comiket work; the person in the hat is Comiket staff, and is guiding them to the next section of the line. This keeps through ways clear.
You'll go no further than that dechi.
