The British Nelson-class battleships also carried torpedo tubes (it's not clear if they got removed after an Italian air-launched torpedo pierced the compartment behind the torpedo body room).

Really? I recall that several other Battleships DO had them. However they're too inconvenient (plenty of reasons why) hence they're removed.
Most of them were WW1 designs: Pre-dreadnoughts and Dreadnought Battleships.
