I honestly don't know how to take this genderbend. I mean Miyomoto Musashi is supposed to be the manliest japanese hero ever. And now, he's a blonde chick in a cut up kimono.

It's a curse. Every new Japanese servants if possible has to be female.

Such is the game of Fate/Grand Waifu simulator. Manly man will never attract as much people as Sexy blonde chicks with huge boobs and skimpy clothing.
I'm still waiting for the day they grab George Washington and turn him into a loli or Abraham Lincoln into a vampire slayer.

Is Musashi really the last straw for you? There should have been a whoooooole list of other genderswap that should make you turn your head. If you really want, just think that this Musashi isn't really based on the actual Musashi but instead the Ship. Much better see?

Yeah, I think Musashi is the straw for my back. Aside from the fact he is a historical figure of astonishing renown, the fact this lady also uses his Nitoryu combat style and waxes just as much philosophic as the real one, it *can't* be based on the ship.

They should've learn from Koei Tecmo, lol. They managed to do heavy fanservice without having to resort to genderbent.
Also, I was thinking they should've made him- I'm sorry, her, wield two oar bokkens which she used when fighting Sasaki Kojiro, as her noble phantasm, not some Stand.
Isn't it that the Musashi of the "main" Nasuverse was a man while this one is from an alternate universe?
The Sangzang from the main universe is male, but the sangzang summoned from the throne is female due to the modern conception of him being either effeminate enough to pass as a cross dressing woman, or is actually a woman(due to modern media, either with pretty boys or actual women as the actor/subject).
While I actually hate agreeing with the notion, it's possible the reason Musashi is a woman here, is probably what Keo suggested. The battleship being the most iconic thing with his name is feminine due to the pronouns used to describe them, and it might have retroactively made Musashi a woman.

It IS actually the Musashi from an alternate universe. And she have gone in a rant when she found out that her idol, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, is a cute girl in FGO/Chaldea universe. Yeah man, you heard it right, a genderbent who lampshade the entire genderswapping bit.
I was torn at first about this, I mean I like the hitorical figure and I have read Yoshikawa's Musashi novels in one sitting back then. Then I tried her out and her character, along with awesome animations, Koyama's design (the artist who drew Sca and Mata Hari) and Ayaneru got me sold. On a gameplay pov, it's like she was made to team up with Merlin (which I rolled, up to NP4) and a Master equiped with Anniversary Mystic code. Not like she can beat Okita or Umu Bride (who can make a great support/DPS hybrid), but she sit in her own niche.
EDIT: And speaking of ship, this Musashi sounds a bit like a younger pre-anime Nagato, with a funny countryside accent.
Yeah, this Musashi is NOT the actual Musashi from the main timeline, she's from a different universe. The main timeline Musashi is male.
This is supposed to tie into the next part of the FGO storyline, where it's speculated it will deal with alternate universes.
I love how people pass judgments about this game without even bothering to check up the material, it's quite amusing.
reddit have had quite the meltdown. A lot of them expected the Musashi from Inoue's Vagabond manga. Its like for one instant they collectively forgot what kind of game FGO is.
And don't forget, those same people are the ones who never play the original visual novel.
Didn't know it was translated. Have to admit though, I can't stand having to read anything from Typemoon cause they tend to stretch everything to every possibility, alternate reality and all that stuff to the point where you dont even know if one part of the story matter or if it's just extra fan service for the hardcore fans that anyone who casually strolled in will just don't get any of it. I personally never know where to really start and know when I can even catch up cause there's always be somesort of obscene parts where I didn't know exist before because I didn't read this, or played that, or looked close enough to see the cameo of that. Doesn't help that most of them are all in Japanese and never have a chance of ever being translated.
From a filthy casual point of view; it is way to fucking much and doesn't even seem like it matter whether you read the original series, played the R-18 novel, saw the old adaptation, or memorized the whole of the wiki cause it seems to me only about a small percentage of them line up with each other.
Besides that, better UBW anime than someone saying the same but with Prisma Illya, right?
.....Yeah the very little things I know about Fate is just from Prisma Illya and parts of Extra. I had only watched it for the hot almost-lesbian fun times teases and Extra was in the discount bin at gamestop when I went there. I'm sorry.

It's fine to think that. It's not fine to judge or act like an authority when you haven't even bothered to do the research.
Not talking to you, but talking to a lot of people who seem to act like they know everything about Fate when they've only scratched the surface. Really though, since Fate is starting to get mainstream, we're gonna get a lot more of those types... it's a depressing thought.
Like people calling the FGO OVA trash because it ends quickly and has no direct relation to the original series.
It was shit, though. Not for those reasons, but it felt like a bland fanservicey try to bait people into playing the game. Not that I expected something ground-breaking in a 1 hour long OVA, but only Cu and that Lancer made me sit through it. Was nice seeing Alter and Archer and I liked the concept of the story, but that's it. Everything else was "whatever".

Isn't that the point of the prologue? To introduce us to the story? I mean, how could you ask for an epic all out battle when Fuyuki is basically a kiddy pool compared to, say, America or Babylon? It's like starting Harry Potter from Order of Phoenix because it's where the badass battle starts.

I thought it was ok, I can tell it was based on the manga due to Archer Alter being in it and Rider alter having Harpe for some reason.

I don't quite like putting countless hours "playing" a game with some text and a picture as a background, doesn't mean that I can't consider myself to be quite knowledgeable about the franchise tho, other than the VNs, I have watched all the anime, played both Extra, read all the LN, watched KnK, and spends days reading every single thing on the wiki. played the original VN doesn't mean that you suddenly knows more than me.

Orleans was another basic introduction. Septem was shit. But Okeanos is when it started to become epic.
Once FGO got into America, Camelot, and Babylon, things really hit the fan.
It's really funny how people judge so much on Fuyuki when it really is all just an introduction that barely shows any of the proper plot points that don't get delved into much later.

The wiki definitely doesn't say something about a corridor shark eating Tohno, and that's one of the more infamous. Why do you think we like to make fun of Nasu's prose and his bad ends?
Beside, I'm replying to laisy about those "anime-only" fans who think that First Order is too short so it sucks. I watched several of those guys and I can't believe just how infuriating it is on how ignorant they are about several key concepts such as the Second Magic and Fuyuki's Grail War background, even when the anime put those things in the show. Fanboys who are only in for the pretty sparks flying from swords clashing with each other.

Septem is good on the paper, but Sakurai sucks at characterization without massive shilling on the "main" character while wasting the rest of the cast. If they do pragmatic adaptation, just like what they've done with First Order, then they can tidy up those "empty level" narratives that plagues the chapter. You don't know just how glad I am of what Garden of Order event did to Boudica and the Prison Tower event to Caligula.
As someone who got into this series entirely for the history and mythology, and had consumed all of its medias up until 2013, and ranted about the franchise jumping shark more times than probably welcomed, I think the elitism "thou must play/read/watch everything or thou have no rights to judge" is a stupid notion for this particular franchise.
It's like telling no one has authority to state an opinion because they haven't read the 75+ years worth of Superman, or the million side novels of Gundam or Star Wars. If anything it only made you as pretentious as the people you're attempting to bash.
Fate at this point has enough of that content floating around, and especially with the original VN having gazillion endings, TYPEMOON giving absolute zero shit about consistencies in their own universe rules, every newer novels and games being alternate universes of each other, the constant obsession with Saber clones and the progressively worse and worse selections for Servants(genderswapped or otherwise) and even FGO fans right here would admit that it's more of a waifu simulator than a story and depth driven ride, are you really sure people don't have the rights to judge?
I really wish there could be a new history and mythology crossover series I can jump ship to, but as things stand right now, I'm stuck with Fate even though my affection for the series vanes with every new installment.
