Meat is meat, no matter how you look at it.

But meat done right is heaven.

Reminds me of my first girlfriend's dad discovering that I was pretty good at cooking meat at one of those grill-it-yourself buffets (which this quite visually resembles) while we were there in China on vacation picking up his newly purchased wife. He later discovered she could only cook (read: horribly dry-out) roasts, so more and more often when I'd visit there'd be freshly bought steak or hamburger patties out on the counter and lots of winking and nudging about "helping" with dinner...

Nonsense! Protein is more filling than carbs!

Now then, let's see if Iowa can do a properly smoked Boston Butt.

There is no better BBQ in my mind - which I admit is quite subjective - than that juicy pork meat that has spent nearly 20 hours cooking: 6-8 on a low heat smoker, and the rest immediately wrapped in aluminum foil and stuffed in a sleeping bag to finish cooking.

Lol, nice. Personally for me, a girl who can't cook or at least won't learn how to cook well is a deal breaker for me. There are unlimited sources on cooking and cooking frankly isn't all that difficult to satisfy the normal tastes. I'm not that great of a cook, but I still learned to cook in my spare time for lots of people and made lots of recipes that could be stored in a fridge and heated up for coworkers since I thought cooking was an easier chore than being assigned to clean the toilets or equipment or something.

Its almost amazing how many girls can't even make a simple stew or sometimes even how to boil an egg right. What's worse, a lot don't even want to learn. How are you going to raise your kids without basic home-keeping skills? Baby food is good only for so long, and fast food is far too expensive due to labor wage increases.

I would say that any food that is cooked slowly is objectively always better in taste since more flavor is pulled out of the food. The only thing slow cooking usually lacks is an outside crust or texture in general, but then not all foods need that darkening. Definitely the easiest way to ruin a BBQ is dry it out. My mother used to make us ribs with no seasoning other than salt and pepper and they were amazing simply because she cooked them in a way to keep all the flavor in the meat. No BBQ sauce needed to mask the raw flavor of the meat. Combine that with some scratch made french onion soup, a salad and potatoes and you got a real meal.

Because they can just find a husband who can stay home for all that stuff! Or at least that's what my female friend told me.

Seriously though, gender aside, everyone should know how to cook basic meal, and I'm not counting sandwich.

I've encountered people that probably shouldn't even boil water. They are that dangerous when attempting to cook.

For me, it is not completely gender roles either. I'm not dating right now, but even now I work with an eye on my future. I got money saved up for marriage and to maintain a nice home, as well as getting enough skill sets to be able to find a good profession even if I get laid off. To me, I don't see marriage as a battle of the sexes where one person pushes one job on another, but one where you live together and cooperate with a person. To me, a girl who won't learn basic housekeeping is not prepared to be a wife just as a man who does "soul searching" rather than job hunting and tries to shack up with a rich girl. Even worse if they won't at least try to learn when their partner asks them to. To me, it is a sign of disrespect even though I am perfectly fine cooking for a girl. Its the effort that counts I guess.

I haven't met anyone that dangerous, but I have noticed that people who are bad cooks tend to be ones who don't follow instructions. One girl at my old workplace made me a strawberry mousse cake (which isn't really that complex), but she didn't beat the eggs well and put way too much sugar so it tasted like I was eating a sugary strawberry omelette. Of course, you can't tell someone who went through the effort to make you something that their food is bad. That also meant she made more food for me. Luckily she was great at making steak sandwiches other non-dessert items, and her cooking did improve over time (thankfully unlike the anime jokes).
