I feel like Japan and China are the only ones who region-lock their sites... Worse, I've gotten around IP blocking of Japanese videos by using a proxy EU, meaning some Japanese companies are ONLY blocking American IPs.

What? No.
After North Korea, the US is actually the most notorious country, when it comes to blocking web pages to other regions.
If you live in the US, you probably haven't experienced this frustration much.
