I decided to watch the first episode after seeing this.
What a joke. This is the most boring generic crap I have ever seen. Virtually any JRPG from the 90s would be more interesting and colorful.
As someone who is a fan of the game I agree. This anime does nothing for me, it's obvious they're trying way to hard to make this seem epic and cool yet they ended up with the exact opposite of those things. This is actually quite comical and seems like it was done as a satirical mockery of fantasy animes, that how bad it is.

To be fair, the beginning of the game's story was probably intentionally generic because back then, it wasn't as popular as it was now.
The story doesn't get more interesting until much later.
And not to mention that the anime will probably ignore like 95% of all the characters in the game, who all have their own decently interesting storylines.
