I could swear it was Taka Tony's work!

That's what it looks like to me, too. In fact, I'm wondering if the 'artist' copied his work, or just edited an image of Taka's. It's not uncommon for art thieves to throw their own signature onto someone else's work via photoshop.

That for the upper body, and post #140119 for the lower body. That part is more than a little "inspired", if you ask me.

Wow, what a copycat. What I wonder now is, do we add a taka_tony tag too, because it's an obvious copy of his work? And do we need to parent this to either post #101472 or post #140119?

Haha, all of Taka Tony's work looks alike. Anyway, I agree. A lot of artists do copying or tracing to practice and to learn how artist X does Y. Of course, those with the slightest inkling of moral fiber don't then go on to claim the art as their own.

I like how perfectly straight that tie is.

Yeah, he couldn't even copy that properly from Tony's pic. What a hack!

What a lame artist we have here, copying such great Tony work! Although... the picture isn't half bad, lol.

Would it be alright to create a copycat_artist tag for pics like this?

A lot of artists begin by tracing and copying other's works. But yeah, the sig was a very bad taste.

I'm pretty sure you don't learn to draw by tracing another picture.

The funniest part is that the left and the right hand are swapped. Yay for Tony!

    Eh, you're right *sweatdrop*

It's pretty hard to get the thumbs sticking forward with your arms in that position, though.

They really do. It's the equivalent of musicians playing covers when they want to find out what makes a song tick. If they don't try to figure out the chords themselves but instead look it up on the internet or some music book, that's kind of the equivalent of tracing. Of course, when an act then records/performs a song as though it were their own, that's the equivalent of what this jackass did.
