This. Well, except I don't entirely understand because I'm not really much of an uploader. I wouldn't really mind a series I was uploading being taken over by someone else, but I also have an extremely laid back personality, which also makes it less likely for me to upload in the first place... heck, there's a short Fate comic I've been meaning to request translation for since about March. Still haven't even posted it to the subreddit.

Regardless, I've seen how other people react to this sort of things enough times to get it.

It's something about feeling comfortable in routine, especially when an artist has a weekly upload schedule. If someone else swoops in and breaks your routine, it's upsetting. Plus, if you're the meticulous sort, it means things will be tagged differently, which can be an annoyance in and of itself.

I don't worry too much about uploading anymore, but I do like to keep continuity of translators. Especially with someone like Paracite, it can be kind of obvious who did the translations, and I try to guard anything I have been translating, and stay away from anything others have been translating unless it's obviously been abandoned by the previous translator or is something no translator has touched.

Exactly this, the second paragraph is exactly how I feel about uploading pools/series, if someone else is actively doing it I stay the hell away from uploading it since it would be just plain rude to barge in like that. On the other hand if no one else is doing it or has done it for a while I upload a few and see if the original uploader says anything, if not I continue until it happens.

I'm not trying to steal this series from you. I uploaded last month's chapter because you weren't here, and I uploaded this month's because I randomly woke up in the middle of the night and was having trouble falling back asleep, saw last months chapter while I was flipping through the genderswap tag, and decided to check if the new chapter was out. No one has ever asked me for permission before uploading artists I usually upload, so I didn't know we were supposed to. I thought it would be OK to go ahead and upload things I enjoy that aren't up yet. I'm sorry.

Random artists I don't really care too much about others uploading (with maybe a few exceptions) since those are mostly first come, first serve where Danbooru is concerned. Ongoing series/pools on the other hand I think it's kinda rude as I stated before, last month I was gonna pass on saying anything since as you said I was away at the time and I thought you was uploading it only because of that, but you doing it again made me a bit sad yes so I would appreciate if you would step down from uploading this series in the future since I always do it after waking up, thank you.

Not like I'm doing it on purpose, I'm always surprised what isn't used in non-Commonwealth areas (Like fortnight!); And RJ... well, if I didn't have to ham-fist my way through Southern American English, I wouldn't - but that's Kansai-ben for you!

Yeah, her hand would have to hovering right around the crotchal region to feel it. Or maybe Mahiro actually just has a HUGE donger.

I once uploaded a Tawawa because it'd been up for a while without uploading (and because it was Kakyou-san, who was becoming one of my favorite characters). No one complained, so I guess whoever normally uploads Tawawa is more laid-back about it :)

I generally upload very rarely (I'm mostly a commenter), so I'm not really up to speed on uploader etiquette, especially for series.

If it were just Kansai-ben, it wouldn't be so notable, ah can throw on a supasilio Southun drawl easia than bringin' in hobos with free peach cobblah, but you're a tough act to follow when you add in other dialects that need different accents to translate into. Suzukaze being Cockney being one I'm just like... oi bloody 'ell? I have to go Googling for anything more to throw in there, since even Top Gear is a higher-class British accent than that (you utter pillock). I remember translating a page where, after remembering the shipgirls were Royal/British, I changed "chips" to "crisps" for 'authenticity', and then you came and 'corrected' the "honor" to "honour", as well.

Generally speaking, uploads aren't really worth taking personally. People are free to upload any series without having to offend others.

It isn't the intent to have who uploads what be a point of contention between people, but rather to have a community interested in the same things. There will naturally be multiple people following the same series and they aren't trespassing on one another by who uploads what first.

Translations are a whole other deal, given how the process of translation requires a lot of subjectivity, specific knowledge of subjects ranging from information vegetable, animal, and mineral, to fights historical and matters mathematical. Still, its best to avoid getting to personally invested in a post.

No user gets to have a monopoly on uploads or translations. This is a community, not a competition, so who uploads what is irrelevant. So no user is able to tell people to not upload something so they can upload it. This causes unnecessary friction and entitlement, and that leads to conflict. There is no need in calling out users over what they choose to upload.

Even if that's the intent, however, that doesn't mean that everyone is actually going to feel that way. Some people really want to get a lot of upload "score", and will go after popular artists just to get more "points". The entire reason a post now lists a "top tagger" instead of "uploader" is specifically to discourage people from trying to be "first" to upload a popular artist's work by just not bothering to tag the image when uploading it (since, after an alert of an update, taking the time to tag something properly may take 10-15 minutes), so it's even recognized as a problem. (And you get people claiming "there's nothing good that isn't being uploaded already" because they don't know how to look for new artists, they just try to be first to get to new work from known artists, creating a de facto race...)

I'm not saying it's necessarily rational, but people get invested in certain artists. I mean, the whole reason I started to learn Japanese properly was because a few of my favorite series were abandoned mid-translation.

People should try to stay civil and discuss things through private messages whenever possible because they generally aren't meaning ill, but I can still understand the impulse to want to be the one who's uploading a series they're totally invested in.

Sure, and I was actually asking nicely.

It is human nature to be territorial about any niche that we set out for ourselves, but part of it is recognizing the behavior and adjusting accordingly.

I'm not saying the feeling is good or bad, feelings are feelings. However, this case doesn't seem to be a matter of competition, but a matter of someone feeling infringed on their series they marked out for themselves. You can feel salty about someone uploading something you wanted to upload, but that doesn't give permission to start infringing on the rights of others to upload.

So its clear, you're not allowed to claim sole uploading rights for any series. If you already knew that wasn't allowed and did it nicely doesn't change the basic interaction.

finally reading this manga after rewatching the anime, and i'm still flabbergasted how momiji just gets her hand in there... I know she likes mahiro but i don't remember them being THAT intimate
Was it the accidental titty-groping in Mahiro's room that awakened a groper-taste in her, or...?

it's also very interesting to see and look back the changes that were made in the anime so far
