Even at risk of being massively downvoted I must say that she looks definitely better than her Kancolle counterpart (IMHO at the very least).
Akira's Abyssal art is good, but for some reason she can't draw decent-looking (non-jaundiced) shipgirls except for Gamby (and Kamoi too, to some extent).
The artstyle varies so much it's as though there are multiple artists 'ghost-drawing' under the same name...

To be honest, Richelieu is the only under average girl did by Akira. Kamoi, Gambi and Mizuho have a nice feeling (and dayum, the last one for Mizuho is one of his best). On the other hand, Richie have a looks kinda weak, who doesn't fit for one of the best BB in Europe and the leader of the French Navy... The guns where poorly made and the facial expression doesn't suit her. On the other hand, Azur Lande did a very good job with the frenchies, Especialy Jean Bart.

Kancolle Richelieu's event arts (especially the Autumn Casual) have been serious improvement over the base art.
Azur Lane Richelieu on the other hand really captures the majesty of France during her namesake's time.
First time seeing Azur Lane Richelieu. Some of the other designs of shipgirls got me to join the game after being a kancolle fanboy, which i still for the most part am even though Azur lane is fun. I agree that this Richelieu gets the majestic feel across much more than the Kancolle Richelieu does, but I really don't like how she looks otherwise. Might just be my neverending hatred of red eyes which is present a lot in Azur Lane, but to each his-her own.
For those who're wondering why she looks like this, Richelieu in Azur Lane is the Cardinal and the leader of her faction Iris Libre.
I lost my AL account back in Spring, because of phone cleaning shenanigans. I thought I could manage without AL. But a combination of KC events becoming more and more ridiculous (small event... yeah right), and watching Bisoku made me miss my girls so much, Richelieu being one of them. I got back into the game just in time for her rerun, and I got her back (well, after Taihou. And now I need to save for Zara, Baltimore and Bremerton). And replaying the events made me appreciate what Manjuu did with the French, down to the nods to their troubled history in WWII.
