I was surprised to see Shibafu take the helm on this one. I thought Fumikane handled the german ships......or former german ships in this case

In this case, Shinyou is technically all-Japanese since she starts out as her carrier form in this game. She did originally start out as SS Scharnhorst IRL, but that form isn't in the game for obvious reasons of being a civilian liner.

Considering we have repair ships, maryuu, coastal defense ships. I am sure we can get a Liberty ship or the Aurora in before too long.

Considering that I would rather expect a design from Kuu Ro Kuro, who has draw the hiyou class.

Nah, I expected her to be drawn by Shibafu, just because Taiyou was drawn by him. Those escort carriers were based on the same blueprint, and had de same appereance, so you can consider all of them sister ships of sorts.

I actually find the fact that Shibafu drew her kinda fascinating, not only because I like his drawings but also for something else.

Remember, she originally was a german liner and what is one of the things both germans and Shibafu are known for? That's right, their potatos!

I like this fact even if it ends up being just a coincidence.

Shibafu variaty is always welcome in my book. A cute blondy, which is pretty rare for him.

I actually like this quite a bit, can't quite put my finger on why, but something about it tickles my fancy. Though it's more the design then the drawing itself I think.
