I get what the pose is referencing, but did it really need to be asymmetrical? The arm placement on the lower right is especially dubious.

If you get what the pose is referencing, then you'd not need to question the arm pose. All the position of the hands are referencing the Guan Yim.

Guan Yin hand pose links Phos with Avalokitesvara, the pinnacle of mercy, compassion, kindness and love, which depicted as genderfluid (can change gender as they will, and by default has no gender). Guan Yim also draws a very similar trait to Phos' gold parts, being able to transform into any form: the Lotus Sutra relates, the Bodhisattva Kuan Shih Yin, "by resort to a variety of shapes, travels in the world, conveying the beings to salvation." How Guan Yim acquired the thousand arms also mirrors how Phos got them: when wanting to save everyone suffering, Guan Yim tried to reach all that was suffering with two arms, causing the arms to break. Then he/she got granted thousand arms by Amitabha in order to enable her to do so, like Phos who contacted the gold cube after wanting to save Antarc.
