Old post, but interesting. Japan, It's a different culture that their general fandom has no moral issues or antagonism in this particular context of big changes in series, western fandom in general due to unique social history and the concept of "canon" hold to single interpretation where certain changes can be moral heresy. Mostly it's proven gaming companies tend to focus on general gamers and fans of the like, they do what they want depending on sales, plus adding in surprises once in a whlie, (as she's an example.) Though that's not to say they all don't listen to their fans of course.
