Nitpick but the Oy vey doesn't really fit; Israel is majority sepharadi, not ashkenazi, IIRC, so yiddish isn't nearly as common there as it is among the American diaspora community.

The funny thing is that it is actually TAR-21 who is the penny/sheckel pincher in Squad Negev. She keeps critical electronics needed for combat off when not in use to save batteries. There's a decent number of Yiddish speakers in Israel still, but it's increasingly a language of the ultra-Orthodox as other Ashkenazi speak Hebrew in Israel or English in the US.
