This is a work to criticize China and Xi Jinping. As a Chinese ,I do agree that Xi is much worse than Hu Jingtao and Jiang Zemin,but it is definitely to consider China as the country that should be blamed.Spanish Flu actually first outbreak in US in 1918，infected over 500 million people and killed over 40 millions of people worldwide.Did anyone calls the Spanish Flu as American Flu?(the reason of people calls the name Spanish Flu is because Spain Government first treat the flu epidemic as a disease that is widely spread.)It is totally unwise to simply connect China with COVID19.

It may have been noticed in the U.S. first, but thanks to the "lovely wars" going on at the time, it went largely unnoticed, aka "censored", in most places. With Spain being nuetral, they allowed talk of the problem, causing a larger notice on Spain, giving us the name, Spanish Flu.
Since it was quickly picked up on and the origination point was in Wuhan, China, it is fair to call it the Chinese Flu. I feel like the pooh bear is just to call out his poor initial handling of it. Heck, that's also the reason she's given a chinese dress. I honestly couldn't care less what we call it to be fair.
Or in the words of Patrick Star, it's just a drawing. It's not promoting attacks on Chinese people itself, aside from calling out Xi Jinping for his poor decisions.

That and this are different things, however. Chinese officials went out of their way to obscure initial information about the virus (remember Dr. Li Wenliang), so yes, unfortunately for you, people will always connect the virus with China.
