God. This shit used to be cool until everyone and their mothers jumped on the gravy train and drove it into hell. Nowadays, it hard to tell if they are generally good stuff or just the same drivel, bandwagon, isekai garbage that littered the genre.
I don’t want to hate on something I have no idea on, but I really can’t help finding myself disgusted and hoping that this trend will burn. Then from the ashes, hopefully we get more sensible shit, before that get fucked up and the cycle repeats.

I think the problem is saturation and cheapness. The idea of cheap, tacky novels sold en-masse with the hope that one of them sells enough to not only recoup losses but drive massive profits is nothing new. Mark Twain complained about them. The only thing that tends to kill such a prevalent, low-effort genre (not saying there aren't good ones, but realistically most aren't trying to be good) is either a "deader than disco" mentality or a big pop-culture shift that replaces it.

it's not really isekai more post isekai the protag had been isekaid but got a free reincarnation from the goddess when he died of old age as a king that had united the world under him and improved lives. his wish was to be reincarnated so he could focus on mastering martial arts. as it turns out he is a battle maniac. but gets reincarnated as a girl. it's a fun read.
