If it refers to the remake, it should be a seiyuu joke as well, since Rina Sato also voiced Maya in the remake.

If by remake, you refer to Rebuild, that's not true. I scoured both English and Japanese Wikipedia, and rewatched the credits of Rebuild to confirm.
