Well, if you aren't particularly good at shmup's (I am not), there's an only way to get better at Touhou. You die. You die a lot. A huge fucking lot. And after dying for the billionth time, you start to see the openings, the safe spots, move patterns that keep you alive in the living hell, and finally, you beat it. And that's the most awesome feeling a video game will ever give you.

Always used played shump's in the arcades when they were still around. Same thing that happen in those happen in Touhou i kill bosses but die between stages. Sigh, but yeah when you figure out a pattern its the greatest thing ever, but it can take a lot of tries and some hair loss.

I can vouch for that. Both PCB and IN made me feel quite bad-ass at living for so long on the default life setting (even if I started on Normal ¬_¬), and the amount of times I died was astronomical. Get to Alice and get shown the score screen, since I'd used all my continues. Now, the only real problem is getting past the Prismriver Sisters with my lives intact, and I'm golden.
