So there is this thing I’ve been wondering. There is this rather disgusting practice the Japanese have called Ikizukuri where they eat fish alive. If Coco or someone from Hololive EN were to condemn this practice would Japanese fans be mad at them? Or is this practice controversial even among the Japanese?

That's...random. I think you're confusing Japanese culture just a bit too much and I don't think such a random and somewhat trivial thing would cause the same effect as you might think that had happen with the Chinese market. If it's just food, where the EN maybe may say they never tried it or say they don't enjoy it then I doubt it would matter.

If the EN members sudden pull a PETA and started calling everyone monsters or other derogatory terms for this practice then it would be a problem but that would require them losing all their common sense and being really, really stupid (basically going full retard. The type of thing that only mindless idiots on twitter looking for drama would do). And even then, I would chalk it off the same as Miko saying the N-word on GTA (where people would just see it as the EN members not understanding and won't hold it against them...probably.)

If the Japanese hatedom and antis want to hate on the EN members, they already have plenty of actual things to hate on them (I.E. many of the antis hate Kiara for "leeching" off JP members, hating Cali because of her style of music, hating Gura because she was the first to hit 1mil and that she "did not deserve it", hating Amelia for...errr...wow, the list is actually endless here.)

Also, if we're talking about the whole live animal eating thing, I think more Americans might be pissed off if the girls come out and say that eating Live oyster is gross than the Japanese would. Hell, I dread the day one of the girls bring up deep fried butter and oreo and then following up by saying that's gross. The entire western half of the US will probably freak the fuck out enough to start a riot.

    *Note
I also want to bring this up for people who still seem to ONLY think the reason why the Chinese market hated Coco that it wasn't just because she mention Taiwan, as many might think.

Before even that, China has already hated Coco for various other reasons (i.e her being American) and the fact that she didn't stream as much on Bilibili compared to the other girls(thus they see it as her being "better" that she's not "relying" on the Chinese market like many of the earlier Hololive members were at that time) as well as other really stupid reasons. Also, it wasn't the first time that Cover shit the bed with China cause there were other controversial events that happened before the whole "Taiwan" incident(I believe about 2, but I don't remember the exact reason at the top of my head). Coco was more or less just a final straw and of a easy target that the antis was able to used to riled up all the Chinese nationalist to go after that cause the whole stink.
It was why Hachaama didn't go though the same thing as her and why they didn't go after her the same way they did with Coco.

So please don't think that it was all somehow just one small thing that created this whole entire shitstorm and that it could happen again (although, there's no guarantee something similar might not come up unfortunately) and that Coco is somehow the antithesis and coming doom of Hololive. I'm quite sure Coco know more than enough about Japanese AND American culture to not say something really, really, really insensitive and stupid (she's not that type of person, as she has shown on all her streams and descriptions from all other Hololive members. Infact, she's the most level head of them all. Compared to alot of the JP girls, her dedication to her role in the whole of Hololive is something to be highly admired by amount of effort she put into) and the EN girls are similar.

I was thinking more something in the middle: Not quite going "full Peta" but saying they think it's cruel and they would never do it.

Danbooru isn't really the place to posit hypotheticals on what people would do regarding things you find offensive.

I'd rather post it on an out of the way website like this then places like Youtube or Reddit where a lot more people . I don't really want anyone from Hololive to see things like this in case it's an inappropriate topic.

Okay, but it's not even relevant to the image you commented on.

And just for the record, just because Japan's culture includes a certain culinary practice, that doesn't mean every single Japanese person enjoys it personally or cares whether or not someone else enjoys it. Japan is not a hivemind, and Gura saying, "I would never eat a live fish, I think it's gross/cruel." is not going to send the JP fanbase into a frenzy. Unless they explicitly insulted the Japanese for doing it, which none of them would be stupid enough to do.

Again, danbooru isn't the place for this. There are many sites that host blogs.

What another culture finds offensive may not be the same according to the culture that did it. Japan has some culture that other would find offensive (Kanamara Matsuri, for example, or eating Kusaya - Surstromming's rival), but i believe Cover, JP and foreign Hololivers (EN & ID) have enough common sense to respect the cultural differences. And i'm sure as heck something like that won't pop-up in their conversations.

    Except on Asacoco.

Why would I sign up to a blog just to ask this one question? And there's no rule that says I can't make this sort of comment so I don't see what the problem is.

Is off-topic (completely irrelevant to the image or current events). It also has the potential to stir up drama over nothing.

Just a fair warning in case you don't know, when a Moderator's comment is lit up like they are here, it means they're enforcing their role as Moderator, and you may not want to argue with them when they ask you not to do something with a lit up comment.
