Chinese sowrd and japanese sword are miles different in looks and usage. now I know what you gonna say, they are both used as sowrd aren't they? but no, most of the typical chinese sword are different from japanese sword, some used better as piercing, others are used more often as slashing weapon. I can think of three, the doubled edged, the hooked, and the clip pointed, none of them fit the japanese sword discription
It matters to a person who likes swords what the sword looks like, the way it matters what the girl looks like to a person who likes girls. Take porn for example some guys care what the guy doing the girl looks like, personall girl hotness is all that matters. Really there is almost nothing that girl hotness can not overcome.
Personally I like and know something about swords so the sword/dress clash is a little annoying, but don't allow my taste to dampen your enjoyment of girl hotness.
