Apparently out of all the Star Trek shows available in Japan, The Next Generation seems to be the most popular.

It went both ways, actually. I forget when, but there was at least one scene where there was an Urusei Yatsura banner on the Enterprise-D.

I'm actually worried about her being in red. is she an actual red shirt or red uniform?

Classic uniforms in red are always Security Personnel AKA Red Shirts it was only in TNG that Red Uniforms where changed to being worn by commanders. Though the idea of Yui being in charge of ship board security is hardly reassuring either…

Well I was thinkin' in TOS, Uhura and Scotty hardly fit the redshirt bill, but that does apply for the other redshirts.
