Not just Oguri Cup, many other horses also have their plush toys and are very popular This is canon in both the anime and game too, there was even a scene showing Silence Suzuka's was sold out on the day of her race.

Poor McQueen got all her popularity sucked away by Oguri. (Contemporaries with similar coat colors, so there was only room for one in the public's eye.)
