Thats how I play touhou games; with a ps2 controller. It works quite well

Same here. I hear keyboarding it works better by some minor milliseconds, but I can't make my hands do the "right hand for movement, left hand for shootan" thing, so I stick with the DualShock2 + USB adapter.

Frankly, my keyboard simply cant down/right, focus, and shoot all at once.
