I just love the way it starts out with such a morbid sentence, then ends with something so heart-breaking, yet heart-warming.

    Damn. That even possible?

Should I cry tears of sadness? Or tears of happiness?

    Guess I'll settle for both.

This is the first one, in order, that has a good end, the ones before have innocuous beginnings and bad ends.

crap this reminds me too much of clannad, which in turn reminds me of how cruel our world is.

and for any loving mother to giver her life in exchange for her child's......it's noble, yet at the same time, cruel in itself.

You gotta feel sorry for the many actual cases of this.

EVER SINGLE TIME your birthday comes around, you will almost NEVER be able to enjoy it as easily as most people get to.

I'm just gonna say this: it's not easy knowing that your mother passed away giving birth to you. And I'm not saying it isn't justified to feel upset about that. However, if you think that being upset about that is paying proper respect to her, then you're mistaken. Any parent that would sacrifice their life for their child wouldn't want their offspring to regret his or her own birth. As long as you're alive, your parents will be able to live through you to an extent.

So don't give your parents anything more to worry about and show gratitude that they did something so selfless. Even if something happens to them, knowing that their child is living his/her life to the fullest makes it all worth it in the end.

"The Kosame Daizu paperback series with full of whims and fancies" Suikyou Bunko
But they had to face the strong opposition of her parents. It was unbearable for her parents that their daughter had gone out with someone who only had a part-time job, especially considering her health issues. Her parents had become desparate to change her mind.
She was my dearest woman. But she no longer lives in this world... It is because...I am the one who killed her...
    My dearest one
...No, the truth is...I was born in exchange for her life. Today is my birthday. And...it is also the day my mother had passed away. My father showed me a picture of my mother when she was young. After dating for three years, she conceived me. Although the obstetrician warned her of a high risk of losing her own life at delivery, she didn't even have second thought and immediately decided to give birth. Thus, she had me and...lost her life.
But...despite the worry of her parents, she had chosen her love over her family...her parents...and her own life. ...Then I killed her.
I asked my father if I was the one who killed my own mother, "No, she gave her life to you." This is what my father, who has become the owner of the bookstore, and my grandparents who are now close to my father, told me with smile. Today is my birthday. And it is also the day my dearest one had passed away.
She was born as an only child of an ordinary family. But she had health issues since her birth, which made it difficult for her to even go out. Not only because of the health condition, but being an only daughter, she grew up with the fullest attention and affection of her parents. And one day, she had fallen in love. The person she had fallen in love was a man who worked part-time at the bookstore she often made a trip to. She had never expected such a twist of fate as everyone else. They slowly developed affection to each other and eventually realized that they were the love of their lives.
