Just like the name says, it's a yaku where three of your mentsu are ankou.
It's fine if the 1 other mentsu is shuntsu, and/or is made via fuuro; if it's a minkoutsu then all of your mentsu are koutsu and you also get the 2 han yaku "toitoihou".
It's also easy to turn this yaku into "suuankou", which is yakuman, by having the fourth mentsu also be an ankoutsu.
In example 3, if your agari is via tsumo then it's suuankou, if via ron then it's toitoihou san'ankou.
