The main thing, and this is why some streamers will typically mandate a specific language in their chats, is that as the primary language is English on the site the mods primarily understand English (at minimum it's the unified language of the site). If you're commenting in another language that the mods can't understand then they also can't properly moderate it when people are saying things that violate the community rules.

The way he said it is ass, but he has a point. Danbooru is an English speaking website, and it's explicitly stated in the rules that users must primarily speak in English. Downvotes are the easiest way for non-mods to say, "Hey, stop doing that."

And if you'd like to say, "People should actually say that instead of downvoting them." I say the people not speaking English should've read the rules.

The site is managed by volunteers, not paid for employees. Sure they could look to recruit people who speak a specific language, but there are limits do you expect them to recruit for every possible language people use? The amount of time and effort could be better used on other tasks the site needs. It's honestly smarter for those people to simply make their own site for their own language, the mods would be able to offer superior support being of the same language and the community would probably be more cohesive and engaged.

As for machine translations, that'll only get you so far. Especially if you're dealing with phrasing that totally mean something else. Throw something like Let's Go Brandon into a machine translator and see if you actually get the real meaning behind it translated.
