If it isn't a direct "Time until Death" counter... my guess is that it might be a "time until mutating" where he starts to turn into a chupacabra-thing like Riha is/was.

I tentatively have 'is' there because of that black screen thing a few pages back, and the fact that there's been no mention of what happened to her body.

I guess that everyone has a certain number then that doesn't change until bitten?

That said what are the odds that he is in a time loop where he becomes Riha and resets everything?

Because he got "infected" so the timer has no effect on him, the reason might be much complicated I guess.

Oof, wouldn't that be a tragedy. He was about to die so Riha "infected" him to keep him alive. Then he killed her due to misunderstanding her insistence on biting him/preventing him from leaving.
