Perhaps the artist wanted to buck trends? Or more likely, it's because they both have similar hairstyles with braids tied to the back of their heads. Also, Darjeeling is the 3rd most popular character in the series, compared to Carpaccio who is down at number 25.

I just used the percentage overlap for posts here on Danbooru, which admittedly isn't an official ranking per se. However it is corollary since represents the preferences of uploaders on Danbooru as a first-order consideration, and the availability of source material to upload as a second-order consideration. Perhaps even fan preferences as a third-order consideration. Anyways, it's not perfect, but it does provide at least a rough approximation of the true popularity of the characters.
