Probably because they're more treated as little glider wings than wings in proper?

It really bothers me. Everyone always draws Mystia with huge nails, but in her ZUNArt her nails are pretty normal sized. If you want a canon huge nailed character look at fucking Chen!

If I had to guess, I'd say she's more of a relaxed flier, since she can use her power to paralyze her prey, so her wings are located higher up her back so she can float upright.

This isn't taking into the account that she can fly magically, of course.
