Those were ancient Middle Eastern religions, which emphasized fertility. Shintoism (which Reimu and the rest of Gensokyo adheres) is more on nature/ancestor worship, animism, polytheism and syncretism (having integrated Daoism, Confucianism and Buddhism [the latter is represented by Byakuren]).
