Translator's Note: Dattebayo means believe it.

I know they eventually phased it out in the dub, but does Naruto still say dattebayo in the original version?

I think she supposed to be reading the manga out loud.

No it doesn't; it doesn't mean anything. It's just something he says. Kind of like how Kenshin used to say "Oro?" Lots of characters do this.

They have him say "Believe it!" in the dubbed version, because they're trying to give him a sort of "catchphrase" similar to dattebayo.

That's what I said. Only I fit it all into one line. :P

    :\

I was hoping that someone would realize that I wasn't really being serious with that in the first place, but I guess I just suck at these type of things. I knew all of that stuff about dattebayo/believe it but I was trying to be funny and yeah.

And that's why sarcasm/subtle jokes don't work without clear indication...

Alas, this girl has somehow obtained proof of the revelation to the series, we should all stop now, 'cept for the yaoi fans.

She's not reading it aloud. She's making a comment equivalent to a male otaku saying "Konata is my waifu!"

Oh, I see. Kinda like the "keikaku means plan" joke, and the Code Geass chess translator notes jokes. Sorry, I don't know how I didn't catch that.
