The comic itself is in poor taste and not funny in the slightest, but what really makes it gross is the sheer amount of activity it generated on twitter. Psychotic culture we're cultivating.

Is there a tag for "that's not how it works"?

Out of curiosity, do you think that this is in worse taste than the meme it's referencing, or do you think both are equally gross?

I don't think I would have found this funny in a vacuum, but it's a pretty natural spin on the existing meme, and if you're going to bang on about it being in "bad taste", I feel like that ship sailed when "who do you think took your boobs" first got popular.

Forcing the creator to change what a character was originally meant to be because it has to be a symbol of someone's agenda is in poor taste and not funny in the slightest, but what really makes it gross is the sheer amount of activity it generated on twitter Psychotic culture we're cultivating.

Nobody forced Daisuke to do anything.

I find this point to be frankly, disingenuous/unhelpful for two reasons: first it doesn't matter what you wanted to do, it matters what you did. If Daisuke really was aiming for trans representation (and nothing else), and he failed this consistently for twenty years, that's not much to be proud of.
Second, failing to appreciate the appeal of your works is hardly uncommon, and the author's opinion isn't the only thing that matters. Go look at the endless cuts and recuts of blade runner and star wars. Clearly, the creators don't agree on what their properties should be or why they should be appealing.

I think Daisuke was trying to make a generally androgynous character, and slowly gravitated to making a trans one. But that kind of nuance is clearly beyond internet slapfights.

I mean, people assumed for years that Kanji, or Kaiji, the delinquent from Persona 4, was actually gay, when the truth is that he just had "feminine" hobbies. So yeah, any argument you can make will be misunderstood, before trying to argue with a group is basically arguing with the stupidest people in said group.
And it doesn't help that Danbooru started to have downvotes for comments, essentially turning the place into Reddit. Why bother reading comments and coming up with answers if you can just downvote everyone you disagree with?

The real issue with the way Bridget's character has evolved is that to take it as a proponent of one thing or another offers significant contradictions to the narrative of that thing, and it gets harder when you layer multiple things on top of each other and then their conclusions seem to contradict the other. The only thing you are left with is the conclusion that people should be left to be able to live in whatever way they find happiness in their existence.

    Because the answer already exists,
in written form by the authority on answers.
There's nothing to come up with.
