Actually (at least according to wikipedia) Athena was jealous of Medusa and cursed her after she was raped by Poseidon in Athena's Temple. BTW it was Perseus who killed Medusa - Bellerophon is the name of Pegasus' reins. Pegasus was born from Medusa's neck when Perseus cut her head off; Pegasus is Poseidon's rape child. Fuck, her life was screwed up.
