I think LCL would be more colorful. Together with that half-empty water-battle, maybe it's an allusion to her "scary bath scene". There are some sportsmen who pour water all over themselves too cool the body and get rid of sweat, maaaybe it's something like that.
LCL, even in cockpit filling knee-deep depths isn't that strongly colored. Look at regular water - completely transparent until you have a foot or two.
But I go with it being water because there a *waterbottle* not 5 feet from her. At a guess, she slapped herself up with some water to try to wake-up; this looks like 'failure with low synch'-stage Asuka.
