    I think this has something to do with a Tapir being seen as something similar to a Baku, a supernatural creature who eats dreams.

    I think you know where I'm going with this...

    Right. Though they didn't traditionally appear as such, in recent years the baku has started to be commonly depicted as a tapir-like creature. I'm not entirely sure what prompted that change, unless it was simply because the word for "tapir" was also baku?

    Anyway. It's worth noting in modern media, baku are often depicted as straight-up, zoologically accurate tapirs - not just "tapir-like" or anything. That said, considering the context and how it's behaving here, should the translation be changed from "tapir" to just "baku"?
