I would not put it beyond Barry to drop a "LOL". Platinum's writing, the small bit I've seen so far, is the best in the main games (which, I'd assume, extends to Diamond and Pearl).

You only really need the last two panels to make a joke.

Most of that has to do with the fact that the translation was done by a member of Something Awful's forums. He inserted a lot of internet slang that wasn't in the original.

If the localization is suitably amusing without feeling forced, then it is only an improvement. I especially liked Barry's spelling of "Poké Balls".
