Hard to answer question, originally there was no difference between shangai and hourai since hourai was just the lunatic mode of shangai spell card. But after some time they got divided in red and blue... and still its a hell of a mix.
On here you usually see as any doll being shangai and only the hanged ones or red ones being hourai. But if you go to other places you will mostly find red = shangai.For example if you go to marisa stole the precious thing shangai is a red doll.
