Makes more sense that she's tanned. Oni spend a lot of time outdoors and tend to come in one horned red or or two horned blue varieties, thus making her a red type, yeah?

Yuugi lived underground (with Okuu though) and I'm pretty sure the prevalence of oni in red and blue came from that tale about blue and red oni and not some universal trait of oni race.
