From my experience, doing this to any insect that had made a cocoon and hasn't in progress of "that" are dead walking.

Please don't do this, unless it's a mosquito.

They can remake their mantle if there's favorable materials around them. It's just in nature most thing will kill them before the replacement 'bag' is completed.

Also, bagworms are considered pest anyway.

Don't make any creature unhappy.
