Her opponenets...are chen and a weak-bodied historian who might have never fought even a single battle, danmaku or otherwise, in her life. I'd be bored too.

Quite possible, it'll be interesting to see what happens; battles here are not as a foregon a conclusion as they are in most other works... and in awesome ways.

On the previous page, she took a break to sell some eel to Yuyuko. She doesn't seem too worked up over the tournament.

Maybe she was hoping to fight Yuugi or Suika, or a suicide match against Mima and Yuuka.

Tenshi might perk up if Akyuu goes AQN and it becomes hammer time.

Now, see, personally, I think Akyuu is going to have some *very interesting tales* to tell from her many past lives...perhaps even some about a certain celestial and night sparrow.

On a side note, I really like this Mystia. So carefree~

I like how we've gotten some unusual victories in so far, in part because it's cleared away a lot of the usual instawin characters like Sakuya.

I'm just hoping that we get to see a Yuuka and/or Ran in the finals. Considering the trend so far, Ran might actually GET somewhere unlike in Touhou Tag Dream...

Her opponent is Mokou. Of course she gonna win.

The problem is Yuuka + Mima. That team is so god awful IMBA that for it to win is just... painful to watch. And for them to not win would probably be even MORE painful.

I kinda wanted Nazrin to get somewhere in this tournament, but that would require beating Yuuka/Mima in the first round and then Reimu/Yuyuko is the second. Even still, I like this tournament. This is the match I wanted to see the most. I'm definitely looking forward to watching Akyuu fight.

Well it'll be kinda funny if the Yuuka + Mima fight is just some comic relief where they destroy the opponents in 2 pages~

Seriously though, that's the only match in the first round where all four participants are considered to be high-tier (that I can recall), so on paper it looks like it could go either way. Wild cards are teamwork, the random weather effect/stage... and whether or not Okuu will be able to fight against Koishi effectively if they end up facing each other at any point.

Well, if it gets to it, I think Yuuka/Mima vs. Reimu/Yuyuko would be a very tough to call match.

As for this current match, I am interested on the angle that Akyuu is going to be portrayed at, but I'm right now hoping for a Tenshi/Mystia win.

Yuuka/Mima may be strong, but I doubt they'd work well together at all. The same might be said for Yuyuko and Reimu.

And the whole Meiling/Patchy vs Sakuya/Alice wasn't that imbalanced on paper; ignoring the memes about Meiling being a joke. Funny how she did better here than in a purely physical affair (Tag Dream)

I'm leaning towards Akyuu/Chen, just due to how they'd work harder/better together combined with Akyuu's knowledge.

Unless Chen/Akyuu turn out to be a bigger threat than we're being led to believe (Meiling/Patchy will likely need a threat for Round 3, something Cirno/Wriggle will not provide), I don't see them getting past this one. We'll have to see.

As for Yuuka/Mima...
- I can see them self-destructing either due to egos or horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible teamwork or effort, allowing them to get Sanae'd.
- They rapestomp the two fairies but get stopped by another team in the semifinals at the very latest.
- Alternatively Sunny/Luna withdraw before the match, allowing some combo of Murasa/Shou/Hijiri to take over.

Or some combination of all of those scenarios.

I think that Yuuka and Mima might intentionally lose just to troll Reimu when she bets her shrine on them to win the fight. That, or Reimu gets killed if she ends up fighting two people who want her dead.

Well, Akyuu knows her history, right? Maybe she can bail Chen out by pointing out a bunch of known weaknesses, etc.

Or maybe she just has superb knowledge of everyone's danmaku attacks because of that and can easily dodge them. At least, that's the only way I can see it going.

My bet is that Yuuka/Mima will be the "nemesis" team. They'll probably last until the finals or somesuch to represent a HUGE challenge to whomever the protagonists of this comic are.

3 matches is more than enough prep time to handle 2 opponents. If she gets past this round. She should be able to prepare for all other matches before her next fight.

I want Mystia to win in this fight, heck I want Mystia to get far in this tournament because she could be one heck of an opponent to fight against (See Cirno) but she's got Tenshi with her, and judging by the level of upset in this series the stronger team seems to lose. A shame, really.

When you consider Akyuu is Batman and has quite a long history of stuff that she remembers, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up whipping out some majorly powerful, old magic, and being weak physically.

So the match would be Tenshi trying to get close to Akyuu with her Sword of Hisou, Mystia providing cover, while Chen tries to keep Mystia from providing said cover so Akyuu can essentially magically nuke them.

So it comes down to, funny enough, Chen and Mystia. Maybe.

Not that we can really know, but random theorizing GO.

my money is on Chen and Akyuu. The underdogs have won all the fights so far.

I give him another month. I mean, Animal Girls went on hiatus for a while too. Another month, then verdict is reached.

I purchased the doujin follow up for this series. I do want to upload it, but I don't want to take apart the book since I only have one copy. I don't think photographed pages are acceptable... I may put it up on Voile later.

The two pages that were on his Pixiv have been posted to Tora's blog anyway, so the match itself should be on its way very soon.

These comments...I can only shake my head. I swear, Mima and Yuuka (Mima especially) are the epitome of "memetic badass". people act like they're so amazingly powerful but...they're not anywhere near the level you put them on. Mima lost to Reimu TWICE, when the latter was canonically nowhere near the level she is now. Yuuka has been said to be strong but it has never been specified just how strong. She just has power but she doesn't have a good ability like most other Youkai do. And pure power isn't enough in Gensokyo. I honestly would not put either of them in my top 10.

They're nowhere near the level the fandom puts them on. They're stronger than the fairies to be sure, but they should be absolutely stomped by Reimu/Yuyuko. Then again,
