Hopefully we'll eventually be in a situation where there's a comfy relatively all ages safespace platform for the mainstream and a single monolithic nonjudgmental anything goes platform for all the fringe/subculture stuff to percolate into - and there's an ironclad way to make sure the content has zero overlap between the two spaces.
8 months ago bluesky moderation was pretty draconian. I think it was the influx of Brazilians and the Miku trend that got them to change their ways. Think the only art they crack down on now is loli/shota since I haven't seen anyone post that there.
Another aspect of it is that Japanese artists are now regularly sharing guides that say "here's how to tag your anime boobs so you don't get banned". Bluesky has a pretty granular adult content filter, and they are touchy about people not using it - they care a lot less about what you post if you do.
