Man, such a classic. Still remember the times when animations such as these were fresh and we were all blown away by their quality.

(Still though, this reminds me, there was this one old anime styled animation done for Perfect Cherry Blossom that seemed to be the oldest Touhou animation in that quality, at least from that I know. Sadly, I have never been able to find it again nor what it was even called or who made it. The video where I first saw it has long since disappeared.)

Man this is a blast from the past. I'll never get over just how dedicated a fanbase Touhou has. It blows most others out of the water once you really dive in.

Now this is a throwback. I miss Hatsunetsumikos. I hope that more people start re-uploading the classic flash videos in higher res/framerate.

I am well familiar with all of those. I am talking about even older. Like I said, it was an old clip that from what little I can tell, is among the oldest, if not THE oldest, Touhou animations done in that kind of studio quality.

From what I remember, it was set to a piano arrangement of Ultimate Truth and featured in the first scene a skrimish between Reimu and Marisa with Marisa firing of her Master Spark with Reimu retaliating with her amulets resulting in an explosion. The scene then cuts to Reimu encountering Youmu with Reimu getting a close call with her hair before the two duke it out with it ending with the two clashing, then there is a brief cut to Yuyuko dancing before the clip ends.

Again, I would seriously love to find it again and find out who was responsible for it given it was quite impressive for the time.

Now, according to the linked nico video upload, it was uploaded in 2008. Now I can't tell if that is the original upload or a later one, but if some then it must have been made fairly shortly after I was introduced to Touhou.

Yeah, the Nicovideo link is the original, made by artist Shokkin. They also made a few other Touhou faux PV-style (trailer/music promo) videos. It was a popular thing to do back in the day with various copyrights, and can be searched for on Nico (and sometimes Youtube) by searching for 手書き PV [copyright name]. Sadly not so common now, though Umamusume gets one every now and then.

Also... just realized that the very same Nicovideo upload is also linked under Shokkin's artist profile here. Huh.

Looked at the art and man, I remember some of those from when I first came to the site in the early days. Have I really lost my soul to this site for that long. Maybe time to take out the walking stick, hunch over and yell at clouds. (though to be fair, I am already doing that last thing.)
