Don seems strangely unconcerned with beating up her allies (Sinclair in Canto 3 and distorted Heathcliff in his observation log), is oddly familiar with distortions (She recognized when Dongrang was distorting and knows about Moses on some level), and her usual extreme enthusiasm is an act/faked.
Perhaps someone close to Don (Sancho perhaps?) or even Don herself distorted in the past, and her obsession with playing the role of a noble fixer is her way of coping?
